Douze jewellery is made of 18-carat recycled gold. This gold quality contains 75% pure gold, combined with 25% silver and copper. 18-carat gold is more resistant to wear and is therefore ideal for everyday jewellery. It is the same quality as the jewellery of the Maisons of Place Vendôme.
Gold does not rust, oxidise or degrade over time. It is a hypoallergenic material. Simple care is enough for it to last a lifetime.
Our Douze jewellery can be worn anywhere, risk-free (underwater, at the beach...). However, to preserve it over time, avoid knocks, do not wear it during sports, and avoid contact with harsh products or carrying heavy objects. Also rinse with clear water after contact with salt water. These tips will help you avoid snags, deformation or tarnishing over time.
CLEANING
Gentle cleaning
Over time, our creations need care to keep their shine.
- Soak them in a bowl of warm water with a few drops of washing-up liquid or soapy water.
- Scrub them with a soft toothbrush.
- Rinse them with clear water then dry them with a soft cloth.
Ultrasonic bath cleaning
At our Showroom and Boutique, we offer free cleaning of your Douze jewellery using an ultrasonic bath. Ultrasonic waves deep-clean jewellery, reaching hard-to-access areas to remove oils, soap residue and dust.
Please note: not all jewellery can be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath.
For more details, feel free to contact us at contact@douze-paris.fr or by phone on 01.42.76.00.46.
GEMSTONE CARE
At Douze, we only work with natural fine and precious stones. To keep their intensity, it is important to treat them with care. Here are a few precautions to preserve their sparkle over time:
DIAMOND: the diamond is the hardest stone used in jewellery. It is highly scratch-resistant and durable over time. It can, however, scratch all other stones (including diamonds). It is perfect for everyday wear. For cleaning, simply use washing-up liquid or soapy water and a soft toothbrush, rinse with clear water and dry with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic bath cleaning is allowed.
SAPPHIRE: the sapphire is the hardest stone after the diamond. It is highly scratch-resistant, durable over time and suited to everyday jewellery. It is, however, sensitive to hard knocks. For cleaning, use soapy water or washing-up liquid and a soft toothbrush, rinse with clear water and dry with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic bath cleaning is allowed, with caution: ask us for advice!
EMERALD: the emerald is more delicate than the sapphire or the diamond. It may show inclusions known as “jardins”, highly sought after and part of the stone's character. These inclusions, however, make the stone a little more sensitive to knocks. For cleaning, use soapy water and a very soft toothbrush, rinse with clear water and dry with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic bath cleaning is allowed, with caution and without heat: ask us for advice!
TOURMALINE: the tourmaline is fairly scratch-resistant and suited to everyday jewellery. It is, however, sensitive to hard knocks. It does not tolerate harsh chemicals well. For cleaning, use soapy water or a mild detergent and a soft toothbrush, rinse with clear water and dry with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic bath cleaning is allowed, with caution: ask us for advice!
PERIDOT: the peridot is relatively resistant, but can be scratched by harder stones. It is, however, sensitive to hard knocks. It does not tolerate harsh chemicals well. For cleaning, use soapy water or a mild detergent and a soft toothbrush, rinse with clear water and dry with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic bath cleaning is allowed, with caution and without heat: ask us for advice!
OPAL: the opal is beautiful but delicate. It scratches easily and is sensitive to knocks, heat, harsh chemicals, salt water and sunlight. For cleaning, use a slightly damp soft cloth. Ultrasonic bath cleaning is not allowed.

REPAIRS
Soldering
If your creation has been damaged or the chain of your jewellery has broken, our workshops can carry out soldering to repair it. This service is free of charge if your jewellery is still under warranty, or upon quotation once the warranty has expired.
Lost gem
If an element of your creation has been lost, a new component can be added or replaced. However, we reserve the right to have the piece assessed by our workshop, to determine whether it is a manufacturing defect or damage from everyday wear. This service is free of charge for jewellery under warranty when the loss results from a manufacturing defect. Otherwise, or if the warranty has expired, it can be carried out upon quotation.
Please note: if your jewellery gets snagged, remove it immediately to prevent an element from coming loose. You can drop it off at our Parisian Boutique at 55 rue des Saints-Pères, or at our Marais Showroom by appointment. You can also send it to us by post. For more details, feel free to contact us: contact@douze-paris.fr
Deformation
If your creation has become misshapen, our workshops can reshape your jewellery. However, we reserve the right to have the piece assessed by our workshop, to determine whether it is a manufacturing defect or damage from everyday wear. This service is free of charge when the deformation results from a manufacturing defect. Otherwise, it can be carried out upon quotation.
For a repair, please allow one to two weeks. For re-production of a piece or gem replacement, timelines will be communicated on a case-by-case basis.
POLISHING
Polishing can be used to restore shine or reduce deep scratches or micro-scratches that appear on your creations. Our workshops offer a polishing service on request, upon quotation.
For polishing, please allow one to two weeks.
ENGRAVING AND PERSONALISATION
Our workshops offer engraving on jewellery for which the option is mentioned on the product pages.
Engraving is offered at 25 euros. It can include up to 21 characters, with a choice of italic cursive or block lettering. Each detail is to be selected on the product page, before adding to the basket, when placing your order.
For our Alba Personalised Chain Ring, engraving is included in the purchase price.
For our Alba Medal, engraving on the front is included in the purchase price. If you wish to add an engraving on the back, it is offered at 25 euros.
