Douze jewelry is made from recycled 18-karat gold. This quality of gold contains 75% pure gold, combined with 25% silver and copper. 18-karat gold is more resistant to wear and tear, making it ideal for everyday jewelry. It is a quality equivalent to the jewelry from the Place Vendôme houses.
Gold does not rust, oxidize, or degrade over time. It is a hypoallergenic material. Simple maintenance is enough for it to last a lifetime.
Our Douze jewelry can be worn everywhere, without risk (underwater, at the beach...). However, to preserve them over time, it is advisable to avoid shocks, not to wear them during sports activities, to avoid contact with aggressive products or wearing heavy objects. Also, prefer rinsing with clear water when they come into contact with salt water. These tips will help you avoid snags, deformations, or tarnishing over time.
CLEANING
Gentle cleaning
Over time, our creations need to be maintained to keep their shine.
- Dip them in a bowl of hot water and a few drops of dish soap or soapy water.
- Rub them with a soft toothbrush.
- Rinse them with clean water and then dry them with a soft cloth.
Ultrasonic bath cleaning
At our Showroom and Boutique, we offer free cleaning of your Douze jewelry using an ultrasonic bath. Ultrasonic waves allow for deep cleaning of jewelry, in hard-to-reach areas, to remove grease, soap residue, or dust.
Caution: not all jewelry can be cleaned with an ultrasonic bath.
For more details, please feel free to contact us at the following email address: contact@douze-paris.fr or by phone at 01.42.76.00.46.
STONE CARE
At Douze, we only work with natural fine and precious stones. To ensure their intensity endures, it is important to treat them with care. Here are some precautions to take to preserve their brilliance over time:
DIAMOND: Diamond is the hardest stone used in jewelry. It is very scratch-resistant and durable over time. However, it can scratch all other stones (including diamond). It is perfect for daily wear. For cleaning, simply use dish soap or soapy water, a soft toothbrush, rinse it with clear water, and dry it with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic cleaning is permitted.
SAPPHIRE: Sapphire is the second hardest stone after diamond. It is very scratch-resistant, durable over time, and suitable for everyday wear. However, it is sensitive to violent shocks. For cleaning, use soapy water or dish soap, a soft toothbrush, rinse it with clear water, and dry it with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic cleaning is permitted, with caution: ask us for advice!
EMERALD: Emerald is more fragile than sapphire or diamond. It can exhibit inclusions called "gardens," which are particularly sought after and define the character of the stone. However, these inclusions make the stone a little more sensitive to shocks. For cleaning, use soapy water, a very soft toothbrush, rinse it with clear water, and dry it with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic cleaning is permitted, with caution and without heat: ask us for advice!
TOURMALINE: Tourmaline is quite scratch-resistant and suitable for everyday wear. However, it is sensitive to violent shocks. It has low tolerance for aggressive chemicals. For cleaning, use soapy water or fabric softener, a soft toothbrush, rinse it with clear water, and dry it with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic cleaning is permitted, with caution: ask us for advice!
PERIDOT: Peridot is relatively resistant but can be scratched by harder stones. However, it is sensitive to violent shocks. It has low tolerance for aggressive chemicals. For cleaning, use soapy water or fabric softener, a soft toothbrush, rinse it with clear water, and dry it with a soft, dry cloth. Ultrasonic cleaning is permitted, with caution and without heat: ask us for advice!
OPAL: Opal is very aesthetic but fragile. It is easy to scratch, sensitive to shocks, heat, aggressive chemicals, saltwater, and sunlight. For cleaning, use a slightly damp soft cloth. Ultrasonic cleaning is not permitted.
